About the Book
The volume focuses on the growing concern of academia for Rural Environmental Management. The volume throws light on issues associated with rural areas in rapidly changing economy, highlighting potential synergies and conflicts between competing and conflicting goals.The volume highlights complex socio-economic processes in rural areas resulting in inadequate development, which are said to be the cause of environmental degradation. Although considerable efforts and various strategies through different programmes for sustainable rural developemnt have been formulated. About Author : Abha Lakshmi Singh is Professor and Coordinator UGC-DRS-SAP at the Department of Geography, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. She has a brilliant academic career and she is a prolific writer and researchers. She specialized in the field of Environmnetal Geography, Urban Planning, Rural Planning, Agricultural Planning and General Issues. She has completed various research projects sponsored by International Agienceis (IIED, London and DAAd, Germany) and National Agencies (UGC and ICSSR). She has published 9 books and more than 100 research papers in national and international journals.Shahab Fazal is Reader in the Department of Geography, AMU, India. He specializes in Land Use-Land Transforamtion Studies and GIS. He received prestigious Doctoral Fellowship from Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR),New Delhi Post-Doctoral Fellowships such as Shastri Faculty Research Fellowship: Sponsored by Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DRAIT) Government of Canad and Commonwealth Academic Staff Fellowship: Sponsored by British Academic Staff Fellowship Programme, Great Britian. He was awarded Young Scientist Research Project By the Deparment of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. He was also member of joing Indo-German research group for DST-DAAD sponsored project. He has published two books and more than 25 articles in reputed national and international journals.
