About the Book
Cards on the Table is a detective novel by the famous author Agatha Christie, and was first published by Collins Crime in 1936. Agatha's book features Hercule Poirot, Colonel Race, Superintendent Battle, and the crime writer Ariadne Oliver as its main characters, who are the crime specialists. A harmless game of bridge turns into a murder investigation when the flamboyant host Mr. Shaitana is found dead. The four investigators get down to solve the mystery, each in their own way. An intriguing story filled with suspense, the psychological considerations of Hercule Poirot wherein he solves the mystery dealt as a game of Bridge and the methodical working of Superintendent Battle make it a very interesting read. ‘Dame’ Agatha Christie, often referred to as the ‘Queen of Crime,’ is the author of best selling detective stories and murder mysteries. Some of Christie’s best-known works are The ABC Murders, And Then There Were None, The Mousetrap (longest ever running stage play in London, first performed in 1952), Hickory Dickory Dock, Witness for the Prosecution, and Murder on the Orient Express. Christie was born in 1890 in England. She has created memorable characters such as the likes of Hercule Poirot, a Belgian detective.
