About the Book
A sharp study of the evolution and increasing dominance of the e-commerce sector in India. Groceries, furniture, clothes, shoes, gadgets, books, transport for short journeys and long, not to mention shared ones – our lives today are lived online. For a population with severe trust-issues with online payments, the way Indian consumers have embraced e-commerce in the past few years has been phenomenal. And what of the future? The e-commerce landscape may be bursting with players peddling doorstep deliveries of every conceivable product and service, but there is much to be read between the lines. Flipkart, Snapdeal, MakeMyTrip, Pepperfry, Just Dial, RedBus, InMobi, Paytm – what were the business models of these home-grown businesses when they began? What were the innovations and strategies that paid off for them? And is the mobile phone really the future of the industry? Stories – both inspirational and cautionary, of online priceing discount wars and government regulations, phenomenal success and abject failure – rub shoulders with some incisive analysis and clear-eyed crystal-ball gazing to make Click! an essential read on one of the most discussed subjects today.
