Abandoned, lost or otherwise discarded fishing gear (ALDFG) is a problem that is increasingly of concern. This report, undertaken by the UNEP and FAO, reviews the magnitude and composition of the problem, and presents factors leading to ALDFG as well as their impacts. The report profiles measures already considered to stem the problem and includes a number of recommendations for future action.
