This state-of-the-art survey on agent communication is based on the International Workshop on Agent Communication, AC, held in New York, NY, USA in July 2004 in conjunction with AAMAS 2004. Besides 14 thoroughly reviewed revised workshop papers, 2 papers by leading researchers were invited for inclusion in the book to complete coverage of the relevant topics.

The book presents a coherent and complete overview of the state of the art in agent communication. The papers are organized in topical sections on social commitments, multi-party communication, content languages, dialogues and conversations, and speech acts.
