Diagramming enables students to gain a better understanding of sentence structure and the different parts of speech. Book 1 offers an introduction to diagramming. The activities begin with simple sentences and then incorporatemore complexities, such as compound subjects and verbs, adjective and adverb prepositional phrases, direct and indirect objects, and more. Each lesson describes the specific structure under study, gives examples, and provides sentences for diagramming practice. Students are then challenges to generate their own sentences to fit the models.
