About the Book
Detached living at under the ground prices
Ah, the British dream-to have your own detached residence. The only problem is, not everyone can afford a sky high priced one-especially the residents in Cashin's Castles. So for the price of a posh casket, these washouts are holing up in tacky caravans, but manage to keep their heads above water most of the time - a feat in itself considering all the sludge they have to crawl through from their homes overflowing, outdated septic tanks If they're lucky and the wind is blowing in the right direction, they occasionally get a whiff of fresh air-but there's a price for everything-and that includes the money hoarding maggot they now pay to rent the plots their homes rest on. An American, Patrick Edward Nathaniel Cashin Jr. inherits the caravan park when his British born father meets with an untimely death. If one's initials could encompass a person's net worth, then Cashin would be head to toe in money, although in his case, it would be the most diminutive amount of British currency-PENCE Well almost-there's a vowel missing at the end Not to worry, there's plenty up front to make up for the shortcoming-and it's putrid The residents include an array of 'playing cards'-a parody of the 'Queen, ' a pair of Kings (Mr. and Mrs., but not for long--because there's only one throne in that over-rated crap heap), a Jack (a clown), a little ace named Half-gal (a midget), and an assortment of other numbers-most of them odd Cashin-bent on making money any way he can-starts by quadrupling the tenants' lot rent, but like the pitchfork that got his old man in the end, things often backfire and do the same thing to Jr.
