About the Book
Chaos is an emerging field of intense research activity and wide applicability. Recent trends in studies related to the chaotic state in nonlinear systems strongly indicate that it can be tapped and tempered to our benefits. The present volume is a collection of ideas presented during the recent seminar organised in the Department of Physics, Maharajas College, Cochin, India. March 21-25, 1994. About the Author Dr. G. Ambika got her Ph.D. in 1988 for the study of universal behaviour during onset of chaos in 1-d maps. She is interested in problems related to dynamical systems with nonlinear damping, Josephson junctions, control of chaos in Pendulum systems etc. Dr. V.M. Nandakumaran did his Ph.D. (1979) in the Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, in the field of theoretical condensed matter Physics. He is guiding research in problems related to the onset of chaos in 1-d maps under external pulsing combination maps and modulated maps etc.
