About the Book
This book contains two different parts devoted to two apparently different subjects. The combination of legal and economic papers on 'financial services and financial markets in transition' on the one hand and 'transport policy and mobility in the European Union' is however at all arbitrary. Financial services and transport are two major sectors of the economy in Europe.
Both sectors have been deeply affected by the efforts deployed by the European Community to achieve a single market. After decades of inactivity, the Community legislature has adopted, since the second part of the 1980s, a whole body of regulations with a view to achieve a market without internal borders for road, inland waterway, maritime, air, and recently also rail transport.
