This volume supplements in a big way the data presented in earlier publication--Demographic Diversity of India (1991, 1992, 1994). The new data from 1991 census released by the Registrar General in the form of diskettes and reports have been processed and presented in a use-friendly manner. This reference volume is the first of its kind, focussing on individual districts of all the states and union territories of India. It should be indispensable for the students of population, and also for politicians, planners, policymakers and all those concerned with development programmes at the district level.
