About the Book
Educating for Liberty collects thirty of the first 360 speeches published in Imprimis, the national monthly speech digest of Hillsdale College. Some date back to its earliest days; others are quite recent. Each is worth reading. Together they set a high standard as Imprimis looks to the future.
These speeches, all but three delivered at Hillsdale conferences and seminars, address topics related to education--Larry Arnn on educating for liberty; Clarence Thomas on education as a "door to freedom"; politics--Edwin Meese on morality and republicanism, Mark Helprin on what makes for statesmanship; econommics--George Gilder on capitalism, John Stossel on regulation; religion--Malcolm Muggeridge on liberalism and God, Michael Novak on christianity and economics; culture--Michael Medved on childhood, William Bennett on honor; and international relations--Jeane Kirkpatrick on the end of the Cold War, Margaret Thatcher on future challenges.
