The present study tries to capture the scenario of infrastructure for biotechnology research, education and industry in India, with special reference to Andhra Pradesh. Touching upon the importance of developing instrumentation centres available to researchers from government, academia and all industry sectors, it addresses the issues related to funding for the acquisition of state-of-the-art equipment for biotechnology research. The study also emphasizes the need for new and expanded repositories to hold and preserve the many specimens as well as large amount of data crucial to biotechnology research. The policy framework on educational infrastructure for biotechnology in the country has been examined as well.
