The book is presented in two major sections: Fundamental Microbiology (Chapters 1-7) and Applied Microbiology (Chapters 8-11). The first section deals with the forms structures functions and classification of micro-organisms (bacteria my co-plasmas and viruses) in the light of the changing concepts. Chapter 7 concentrates on the genetics of micro-organisms giving an insight into the advanced knowledge of molecular biology. The applied aspects of micro-organisms like industrial microbiology agricultural micro biology and medical microbiology have been accommodated in section two. A separate chapter on Immunology Hypersensitivity and Serology has been incorporated to familiarize the students with the intricacies of disease resistance and various laboratory practices. Each chapter is appended with suggested readings to stimulate the students for further study in related disciplines.
