A few decades back Uttar Pradesh was full of natural vegetation and fauna but now the conditions have markedly changed, and that too for the worse. Considering forest as one of the major environment components, the authors in this study have tried to portray some major aspects, viz., spatial distribution, economics, depletion of forest resources and its consequences on environment and finally its management in regional perspective of Uttar Pradesh. The presentation has been simplified with the help of maps and diagrams. The book will be of much interest to geographers, resource ecologists and managers, planners and decision makers.
