About the Book
Development issues, theories and policies reflected the modernity of the post WWII period. Since the 1980s development studies has endured increasing critique of some of its central paradigms, such as the universality of the notion of progress and the supposed homogeneity of the Third World, but the current challenge of globalization is perhaps even more fundamental. This book addresses the questions of how globalization has affected the various sub-disciplines within the field of development studies and what it means for the future of the discipline.
