About the Book
Ensuring a balance of both nutrition and taste in children's snacks could be a daunting task. In Healthy Snacks For Kids, India's leading food writer, Tarla Dalal, brings together 44 easy-to-make snack recipes to help all those parents facing this challenge. Summary Of The Book Alongside normal meals, snacks too play a significant role in children's daily nutrition. Whether it is that nibble in between meals or a wholesome evening snack, it is necessary to provide them with quality food during these crucial years of growth. However, there are times when parents settle with convenient options like wafers, sodas, and biscuits, which might not be fresh and healthy. This happens mostly due to busy schedules and lack of time. But, there are also parents who simply cannot figure out what to make for a snack. Tarla Dalal's Healthy Snacks For Kids comes as a great tool to ease all these complications. In this cookbook, Dalal categorizes the snack recipes into 4 different segments, Filling snacks, Jar Snacks, Finger Foods and Sweet treats. While Filling Snacks are perfect as mini meals full of nutrients, Jar Snacks are those which can be prepared and conveniently stored for days. Finger Foods are some delightfully interesting recipes. And there are Sweet Treats too, to pleasantly surprise the kids. The author has kept in mind the usage of ingredients that are healthy as well as delicious. Some of the foods that contain stuff like cheese, butter and paneer are usually considered fattening. This book however, has altered such recipes to cut unwanted calories without having to omit the ingredients. The recipes suggested here use varied nourishing ingredients like fresh vegetables, soybeans and fruits. Pahadi Paneer Tikkas, Nutritious Chaklis and Strawberry Stew with Banana Custard are some of the recipes from the book. There are also recipes that encourage healthy cooking habits like baking and steaming. And, the author has included foods that can be made in different sizes and shapes to make it interesting and fun for the little ones. The book has been written in consultation with Tarla Dalal's team of experienced nutritionists and chefs. About Tarla Dalal Tarla Dalal is a well known chef and food writer in India.
