Carmen Day has a job she loves in the Medical Photography Department at Royal Hospital. Her comfortable work world is threatened, however, when downsizing expert Max Deveraux announces plans to close the department in a cost-cutting measure. When Carmen finds out and storms into Max's office to demand he reconsider, he is so impressed by her spirit and drive that he does -- somewhat. He gives Carmen one week to convince him to leave the department open.
