Christ's night encounter with Nicodemus lead him from earthly things to heavenly things; to show that being born from above meant that the direction of his life would be different; it would be heavenward, and he would no longer be earth bound. When our lives are directed towards heaven, things on earth will no longer satisfy us as they used to.
