HOLIDAZE is an entertaining and humorous look at many our favorite seasonal icons. Whimsical, satirical and sometimes irreverent, HOLIDAZE takes traditional imaginary characters and puts them in the real world. There s Santa, the old fashioned and aloof icon of Christmas; Bunny, the sassy, cynical and sarcastic patron of Easter; Lep, the hot-tempered and proud leprechaun, who s always ready to elevate the importance of St. Paddy s Day; Fairy, the idealistic tooth princess looking for love in all the wrong places; Turkey; the jaded and shrewd bird who wants to be removed from the Thanksgiving menu; Jack, the dim-witted but inquisitive master of Halloween; Cupid, the childlike mute of Valentine s Day, who s always ready to spread the love with his bow; and Bobby, a smart and curious boy from the real world with high expectations and an out-of-the-box approach to life. HOLIDAZE is the creation of author & artist Justin Murphy (winner of the 2008 Xeric Award and ForeWord Magazine s 2008 Book of the Year Award for Cleburne: A Graphic Novel). I remember those cartoons of illustrated genius staring back at me from the porous newsprint of the Sunday paper, explains Murphy, Holidaze is an exercise in fun. It s not just a tribute to all the great comic strips I read as a child, but also a nod to all the holiday icons that we celebrate each year.
