The book is a collection of articles and essays on Human Rights, Development, Environmental Law, Globalisation and related topics written by eminent legal luminaries which include Prof. Mool Chand Sharma, Prof. A.K. Koul, Prof. V.S. Mani, Prof. Satish C. Shastri, Dr. Bhawani Prasad Panda, etc. The articles endeavour to study and analyse the subjects in their proper perspective vis-a-vis human dignity and democracy. Each article is replete with scholarship and originality. These have been written in a comprehensible and lucid style. About The Author: Prof. Satish C Shastri is a popular teacher and has recently been elevated as Dean, Faculty of Law, Head, Department of Law, University of Rajasthan Jaipur. Having done his LL.M., Ph.D. from the University of Rajasthan Jaipur and MSL in Environmental Law from the Vermont Law School, USA, he has been teaching Law of Tort and Environmental Law to LL.B. and postgraduate classes since 1971. He has a distinctive academic career. He was awarded first prize under Medini Puruskar by the Department of Forests and Environment, Government of India for his book: Dhvani Pradooshan in 2001. Dr Shastri got the opportunity to visit and lecture at various legal and environmental law institutions in India, viz. The National Law School of India University, Bangalore; Environment Education Centre, Chennai; The Indian Law institute, New Delhi; Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi and various universities abroad. Besides the present work, he has authored and edited over half a dozen books—Pollution and the Environmental Law; Noise Pollution—Its Legal and Scientific Perspective; Man, Nature and Environmental Law, Hamara Paryavaran, to name a few. The present work is his latest contribution to the legal literature as an editor.
