Written by Scottish author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and published in 1912, The Lost World follows journalist Edward Malone who seeks to get a dangerous mission to impress a woman he loves. He is sent to interview Professor Challenger who invites him along to South America to see if his controversial claims about dinosaurs are real. Creatures in the book include stegosaurus, allosaurus, pterodactylus and gigantic mammals like the toxodon and megaloceros.
