About the Book
The gold standard in clinical mass spectrometry is now completely redesigned for easier access and condensed to accommodate the worlds most comprehensive reference in a handy two volumes. More than 1500 new spectra of novel designer drugs, pharmaceuticals and their metabolites have been added, bringing the total up to 7,840 clinically important substances. With more than 3300 metabolite substances measured, this is the most comprehensive collection of metabolite data ever published. All substances are classifi ed according to their toxicological categories, greatly helping the clinical researcher to identify and evaluate unknown samples.

Volume 1 contains an overview on experimental methods, plus compound listings by name and substance category. The second volume contains the data for each substance, listed in order of mass, including structural formula, empirical formula and exact mass, GC retention index and detection methods, compound category and sample type, and CAS registry number. A truly unique collection of data obtained over the course of more than two decades.

Praise for the previous edition:

"An invaluable source of reference for any environmental, toxicological or analytical laboratory."
--"Rapid Communications in MS"

"The excellent organization of the information facilitates their everyday use. Highly recommended."
--"Environmental Science and Pollution Research"

"The modern toxicological laboratory can ill afford to be without this unique work."
--"Veterinary Human Toxicology"

This unique collection contains data obtained from clinical samples over the course of more than 20 years. It encompasses 7500 potentially harmful substances, from simple analgesics to designer drugs, and from pesticides to chemical warfare agents. Since these substances are often broken down in the human body, metabolites are also included, so as to allow quick and unambiguous identification of the mother substance.

The 3rd edition gives all spectra in order of their molecular mass, since this has become the prime benchmark criterion for the identification of unknown substances.
