About the Book
This is a recipe book that teaches enthusiasts about cooking an entire Indian meal using just a microwave oven. Summary Of The Book Microwave cooking is thought to be a healthier alternative to traditional cooking as food cooked in a microwave tends to retain the minerals and vitamins of the ingredients rather than being burned away. Due to little or no added water, covered cooking, and a short heating time, food retains its essential nutritional value. Meals made in the microwave, cook in their own juices, requiring little butter, oil or salt, thereby making it a healthier alternative for weight watchers, diabetics, and those with high blood pressure. Until recently, it was believed that Indian cuisine did not lend itself well to microwave cooking due to the number of spices and the quintessentially Indian curry base of onions and tomatoes sauteed in oil. Published in 2010, Microwave Desi Cooking, dispels this myth by featuring over forty recipes for soups, snacks, starters, vegetarian and non-vegetarian main courses, rice dishes, and desserts. Microwave Desi Cooking features recipes including Bharwan Aloo, Upma, Palak Paneer, Aloo Jeera, Fish Curry, Murgh Masala, Phirni, Kesari Kulfi, and accompaniments like Jeera Rice, Khichdi, and Prawn Biryani. This book helps young professionals and cooking enthusiasts with little time but large appetites cook healthy Indian meals at home using just their microwave ovens.
