About the Book
This book is a compilation of papers authored by some of the authoritative experts and scholars on South Asia. It addresses a number of issues that fall into the domain of geopolitics, geo-economics and geostrategic. The volume also brings to attention contemporary thematic issues such as terrorism, climate change and blue economy that are transnational in nature and notes that these are gaining high priority and attention among the political elites and policy makers. The underlying theme which emerges from the discussion is that constructive engagements among the regional countries is critical for the well-being of the people of South Asia.
About the Author
Dr Vijay Sakhuja is Director, National Maritime Foundation, New Delhi and a visiting Senior Research Fellow, Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS), Singapore. A former Indian Navy officer, Dr Sakhuja is author of `Asian Maritime Power in the 21st Century: Strategic Transactions - China, India, Southeast Asia`; `Confidence Building from the Sea: An Indian Initiative`; andco-author of `Climate Change and the Bay of Bengal: Evolving Geographies of Fear and Hope`; He has edited/co-edited several volumes on various geopolitical/geostrategic issues and maritime history.
