About the Book
The erosion of natural resources is one of the most serious environmental issues of our times and thus requires sustainable development. This reference book aims to provide a general framework to ensure sustainable management of natural resources in order to improve quality of life as well as living standards. It contains chapters on various facets of natural resources in order to improve quality of life as well as living standards. It contains chapters on various facets of natural resources such as biodiversity, municipal waste water, bioremediation, probiotics, phosphorus pollution, water pollution, fly ash, bio-surfactants, paper and pulp waste water, urban wastes, radioactive wastes and municipal solid wastes and environment and tourism. The book presents an upto date and comprehensive account of the important existing and potential natural resources. It considers each major resource in terms of its value to all living beings, exploitation and degradation and finally it can be restored and managed. The book contains 19 chapters. It has been divided into two volumes. We hope that this book will be of immense value for students, teachers, researchers, conservationist, policy makers and planners having concern for the conservation and sustainable management of natural resources. About The Author Dr. K.K. Singh did his B.Sc. (Ag.0 Hons, M.Sc. (Ag.) in Agricultural Chemistry and Soil Science from Agra University, Agra and M.Phil and Ph.D. in Applied Chemistry from A.M.U, Aligarh. He availed UGC-JRF during his M.Phil and Ph.D. He also qualified GATE-91 examination. He qualified National Eligibility Test in Soil Science-Soil Chemistry/Fertility and Microbiology in 1995 and NET-1997 in Soil Science-Soil Physics/Soil & Water Conservation. He joined the Department of Agriculture, Govt. of Rajasthan in 1993 as Asst. Agril. Research Officer (Chem.) and presently working at Project Directorate (Research), Agriculture & Soil Survey, Krishi Bhawan, Bikaner. Alka Tomar heads the Environment Research Group and the Environment Information Dissemination Centre (ENVIS Centre supported by Ministry of Environment and Forests, GOI) at CMS,New Delhi. A Post Graduate in Environmental Science, her area of specialization includes environmental education, natural resource and solid waste management. With nine years of experience in project planning, design andmanagement, she has conducted research to formulate locale specific conservation education, communication and social mobilization strategies.
