About the Book
Broadcasting is the distribution of audio and video content to a dispersed audience via radio, television or other, often digital transmission media. The rapid advancements in technologies, and the ever-extending areas of broadcasting are leading to a review of the legal basis of broadcasting. Given the new and innovating range of technologies and the delivery system, increased attention is being paid to the contents which are expected to inspire, entertain, educate, enlighten and of course inform the listener about as many topics as possible.
The main objective of this book is to familiarise readers with the recent trends and developments that are taking place in television and radio broadcasting. It reflects on various dimensions of broadcasting scenario in India. The elaborate profile, resources and services offered by AIR, Doordarshan and private broadcast services are described. It is hoped that the book will serve as a valuable reference tool for researchers, students, media professionals, policy planners and the general public.
About the AuthorDr. R.C. Ramanujam, as associate professor of Journalism and Mass Communication has about twenty years of teaching experience. He received his Ph.D in Mass Communication in 1980. Before entering academia, he spent six years as a reporter and sub-editor for leading newspapers in India and abroad.
He has participated in several National and International Conferences on media and related subjects. He has been associated with some of the famous media organisations in India and abroad and doing lectures on digital mass communication, online journalism media coverage, etc he has also designed many web sites and portals for university department, student newspapers and campus organizations.
