The World Health Organization's Stop TB Department has prepared this fourth edition of "The Treatment of Tuberculosis: Guidelines" for national programs using the new WHO process for evidence-based guidelines. Seven key questions in the treatment of TB were each subject to a systematic review of the literature, which forms the basis for new recommendations. Implementation of these recommendations will help achieve the objective of universal access to high quality, life-saving TB care.
