The application of VoIP (voice over Internet protocol) is the use of telephony via the Internet. As this application comes into its own so does the new and improved Internet protocol referred to as IPv6. This work discusses the convergence of VoIP and IPv6 as they emerge as the next generation of communication, and covers the basic concepts and principles of IPv6 with an emphasis on its use in voice networks and telephony or VoIP.
