About the Book
The purpose of this manual is to provide instruction and guidance for military personnel engaged in, or responsible for, establishing water sources by the use of wells, and to serve as a basic text for the training of personnel with no previous experience in the subject. This manual covers the development of ground-water sources for military use. It discusses the various methods of well construction and describes the equipment involved. Operation of drilling equipment and the latest practices and techniques in drilling for water are described in detail. Emphasis is placed on dug, driven, jetted, and drilled wells, as these are the types most likely to be constructed by military personnel in a theater of operations. Multiple wells are discussed and the different types of connections are explained. A separate chapter is devoted to equipment and aids that are found in civil practice and not normally in military usage.
