This book has been written to fill the present need of a treatise on clinical veterinary surgery for the use of the practitioner and the student.The teaching of surgery has undergone great changes during a very short period . Fifty years ago the horse was the principle patient and all practitioners were keenly interested in this animal professionally and also because it was their means of transport and a medium for sport. Althoughit has not been possible to cover the whole field of clinical surgery in this volume, an endeavour has been made to include a great number of those conditions which are of special importance to both the students and the veterinary practitioners.
